FAQ

Why don’t we use refs for our games?

Fair play supersedes testing the ref

Players often play to the level of the refs, and all a ref can do after the fact is award a foul or card. This can lead to a greater number of injuries caused by other players. This goes against the very core and heart of this group.

We use fair play, where players call infractions against themselves, or they make fair and just calls inflicted upon them outside of any emotional reaction, to the best of their ability. This measure and perspective helps players watch out for each other, rather than a ref punishing an action that has already caused injury.

I am very proud to say that injuries caused by other players are very rare here, and that isn’t by accident. If you ever feel the need for a ref, I’d ask you to check in with yourself during and after to help adjust your perspective on playing competitive soccer with your friends and friendly people.

The one exception is that we will have sideline referees whose only job is to call offsides, and we will have them at League Night Championship matches or similar games.
